You booked Cedar Ridge Transport.
Who is actually at the gate?
Before every pickup you type the same email — driver, truck, trailer, plate, VIN — paste it into Outlook, and hope the dock reads it. That email is the only fraud control on the load.
Freight Passport sends it for you: pulled from the rate con, checked against the federal register, and kept as a record that proves exactly what you sent and when.
Free during the pilot · No card · We never email you about payments
- Under a second from dropped PDF to a card on screen
- No login for the dock — it works in the email
- Every send recorded in a ledger nobody can edit
The dock’s only question is “is this the truck I’m expecting?”
A guard at a gate compares what is in front of them against what they were told. If the two match, the freight moves. If they do not, somebody makes a phone call. Everything else in freight security is downstream of that one comparison — and today it is made against a spreadsheet pasted into an email that anyone could have written.
Cargo theft in the United States is overwhelmingly strategic rather than physical: someone impersonates a party the victim already trusts, produces paperwork that looks right, and drives away with a legitimate load. The gate is where that gets caught, or does not.
Two artifacts. One answers the question; the other proves it.
The gate card
An email that carries everything the dock needs to make the comparison — without clicking anything. Carrier and MC number beside the federal record for that number. Driver, truck, trailer, plate and VIN. Live FMCSA authority status, with the time it was checked.
If a field was never checked, it says so in those words. A blank is not a pass.
The custody record
Every handoff is appended to a hash-chained, append-only ledger — who attested to what, when, and how strongly they were authenticated. Nothing in it can be edited or deleted, including by us.
The chain is unkeyed SHA-256, so an insurer or a court can verify it without our cooperation and without our keys.
One document in. A checkable card out. A record that outlives both.
Four parties touch a load, and today the only thing connecting them is a hand-typed email. Here is what replaces it.

Drops the rate confirmation
The agent who booked the load uploads the document they already have. No forms, no re-typing, no new system to learn — that is the whole adoption argument.
Rate con (PDF) - Freight Passport
Reads it, then checks it
Carrier, MC and USDOT numbers, commodity, appointment window, equipment. Every field records where it came from. A VIN is checked against its check digit; the carrier is looked up in the federal register. A human confirms before anything is sent.
Extracted fields + provenance - Carrier & driver
Supply the physical facts
Truck and trailer numbers, plate and state, VIN, and the driver’s name and mobile number. The driver’s details are encrypted under a key held for that driver alone, and can be destroyed on request without breaking the record.
Truck, trailer, plate, VIN, driver - Shipper / receiving dock
Gets the gate card before the truck does
Everything needed to answer “is this the truck I’m expecting?” — readable without clicking, logging in, or having an account. Where a check could not be run, it says so rather than leaving a reassuring blank.

Compare, then confirm or flag
The guard compares the card to the truck in front of them. Matches → the freight moves. Something is off → one tap raises a flag, which is a live fraud interception and the highest-value action in the product.
Attested custody event
A trust product that can be spoofed is worse than no product.
If we hand a dock manager a badge that can be forged, we replace their skepticism with false confidence and make fraud easier, at scale, with our name on it. So the discipline is the opposite of most software: never assert more than we can prove.
The next load you book, somebody at a dock is going to look at a truck and decide.
Give them something worth looking at. We are onboarding a small number of brokerages before general release — you keep sending loads exactly the way you do now, and we replace the email.
We are early and we say so — in active development, not yet generally available.
